With the current restrictions put in place by the NSW and Victorian governments, we have made the decision to put the 2021 Cattleman's Rail Jam 'on hold' until it is viable to run the event without disruption. We are committed to running the event this season, but want to make sure we provide the opportunity as best we can for riders from numerous locations to have the chance to be involved. Stay tuned for details and dates on when the event window will open up.
Mt Buller is fired up to announce the eagerly-awaited return of the Australia’s legendary rail event, the Burton Cattleman’s Rail Jam.
The iconic rail ride is BACK on Buller after a 2020 pandemic-pause with a new online twist for 2021. No, the riders aren’t using Zoom, but they are now adding some tech to the process.
Australia’s longest running snowboard event is offering $16,000 worth of cash prizes andin more good news there is now parity in prize money for the guys and girls with all riders in the running for equal reward.
In its 15th installment, this year's event will look a little different, but with the same energy and style we've come to know and love. During the 2-week event window competitors will ride a Cattleman's inspired feature in the Mt Buller Parks and load up to ten tricks to the online Cattleman's event hub.
Tricks will be scored online by a panel of judges, with a rider’s top five tricks compiling the overall score.
At the end of the two-week event period, the top three men and women's scores will make up the 2021 Cattleman's Rail Jam podium and take home a share of $16,000 in prize money, with an additional cash prize for Best Trick. (1st place: $4,000, 2nd place $2,000, 3rd place $1,000, Best Trick $1,000)
This year's contest will go down on a brand-new Cattleman's inspired park feature, specifically designed and built by the Mt Buller Park crew. The feature draws inspiration from the original stair set in the Mt Buller Village square and includes multiple hit options including a down rail, down-flat-down and close out rail. The rail feature will be open daily in Skyline Park, and the event is open to riders of all abilities and ages.
"The idea with this new online format is that it offers the chance for snowboarders of all abilities to ride the feature in their own time, at their own pace without the pressure of a crowd” said Paul Colby, Burton Marketing and Brand Manager.
